Beat the heat by checking out 'Southern Heat' at Columbus State

The "Southern Heat" art exhibition by local artist Julianna Wells is now open inside the Illges Gallery at Columbus State University's Corn Center for the Visual Arts, 921 Front Avenue, in Columbus, Georgia.
"Southern Heat explores the quiet tension between nature and human interaction. merging Southern motifs with Classical compositions, Julianna Wells plays with tradition and personal experience to evoke sensations of place, memory, and nostalgia," reads a postcard in the gallery.
There's an opening reception May 20 from 5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. where you can meet Wells and check out her paintings in person. If you miss the reception, the show runs through June 27.
Normal gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.
