Realistic VHS Photo Effect Tutorial Using Gimp - Free GNU Image Manipulation Software

I show you how to create a realistic-looking VHS Image using Gimp.

Steps:
1. Find an image, and will work
2. Crop the image to the desired size and fit the canvas to the layer size
3. Make three copies of the image and make them red, green, and blue
4. Blur the colored images with various techniques
5. Add a video degradation filter to the top channel
6. Lower the opacity on the colored photos so they blend
7. Add various amounts of film grain to each of the channels for a realistic look
8. Merge the colored channels (leave the original image as a layer)
9. Add glitch effects to the merged layers
10. More video degradation can be added for realism
11. When everything looks good, merge the two layers together
12. Do final color correction to achieve the desired look to the image
