1/6 Scale Custom G.I.Joe Figure - Cobra Range Viper

The Range-Viper holds a special place in my heart. As one of the last G.I. Joe figures I really connected with before stepping away from the line as a kid, it left a lasting impression. Its skeletal helmet, bold color palette, and rugged survivalist vibe made it unforgettable. This custom is my tribute to that figure and all the amazing memories it inspired, while giving it a fresh, modern twist that feels right at home in 1:6 scale.

I’ve been a lifelong fan and collector of G.I.Joe ever since my mother bought me my first Joe, 1982’s Breaker, at a supermarket when I was 5. Over the years my collection grew to over 200 figures before I stopped buying them, sometime in 1990. Many years later, in my late twenties, I discovered 1:6 figures and fell in love with the hyper realistic capabilities of the larger scale. Today I have a substantial collection of both vintage G.I.Joes and 1:6 scale figures. It wasn’t long into my 1:6 scale collecting that I discovered the Sideshow line of 1:6 scale G.I.Joe and Cobra characters, and more recently the Three Zero G.I.Joe and Cobra offerings, and although I own many of those mass market releases the fact that Sideshow cancelled their line about 10 years ago coupled with Three Zero’s snail pace in announcing and releasing new 1:6 joes I ended up getting impatient and decided to kitbash and pull together my own custom 1:6 scale G.I.Joe and Cobra figures. Now, my main goal isn’t to recreate characters exactly as their original 3.75” counterparts. To that end I’m really doing is reinterpreting the characters in the larger scare with an eye towards realism and detail. G.I.Joe has always been a bit fantastical and sci-fi and I will definitely be keeping some of that when reimagining the characters.
