I have decided that I would like to try and get a set of backpacking gear which is as close to 100% home made as I can. Some things I know won't be possible, but I'm going to try and see how much I can make.
In this video I make an ultralight two person quilt. I based the size on a couple of two person quilts commercially available online and the baffle design on what I thought would be the best option for keeping the down well distributed. The inner and outer fabric is 0.66 oz MEMBRANE 10 taffeta nylon and it is stuffed with 900fp white goose down. I expect the quilt to be good down to about 25F with the right ground insulation and 840g (29.6oz) on my kitchen scale I think it's a great weight for two people.
This project took be around 11hrs to complete over two days, with extra time for planning before hand. I'm delighted with the final product, it's a great size for Raiden and I. I can't wait to be able to go outside and try it out.
