This flight was to check for substantial fish kills after I had a report of pretty severe amounts of dead fish compared to what I had seen in St. Charles Bay. The Copano shoreline did have a lot of dead baitfish with some trout mixed in. Most of the trout were in that same size range as the bait.
What I did not expect was the number of sheepshead I encountered both in St. Charles and Copano. A few inside of Port Bay as well. On the outside of Redfish Lodge was the biggest sheepshead I've ever seen in my lifetime, every bit of 24" if not larger. I didn't get a picture of it unfortunately.
The end clip is what we called "Death Point" where all the baitfish had washed. Once you got about 30 yards off the beach, there were no more dead fish in the water that could be seen. Lots of dead floating bait in the water however. It'll probably be another few days before any large trout or reds start bloating and floating to the surface.
