Beating Dark Souls with Only 6 Buttons

I poured my heart and soul into this. This is a heavily edited version of my 14 hour journey where I attempt to, and obviously succeed at, completing Dark Souls with the minimum possible number of unique buttons. I am fully aware of the giants of Dark Souls challenge runs, whose shoulders I stand firmly on, that have completed much harder and more restrictive runs than this. Most relevant of which, as it seems to me in this moment, would be Bearzly; who has torn open this game with all manner of ridiculous input methods. Many of which probably use less than 6 inputs.
One of the restrictions of this run was not allowing for any key rebinding, controller modifications, or external tools. It was completed with an xbox controller; this enabled me to use a minimum of 6 buttons (according to my arbitrary method of counting). Technically I cheated and used many more than 6 buttons; playing this on PC (for recording) requires me to input my filename with the keyboard, and absolutely requires me to press the enter key to confirm. However on console this can all be done without any additional buttons.
For those who are curious, I would very much like to share a more in-depth explanation of why 6 buttons is the minimum possible:
'A' is required at several points throughout the game. Fog walls, ladders, the Lord vessel... even if you could find a way to skip all of these things, you can't skip anything with so few buttons. The very first thing you have to do in this game is pick up the key to your cell.
Start/Menu, as mentioned in the video, is needed for one thing, and one thing only. Equipping the Covenant of Artorias. Now you don't need this ring to beat the game, but every skip requires additional buttons. On Xbox you need to at least press the xbox button and one of the D-pad buttons which leaves you punching Gwyn with your fists without estus. I propose that is impossible.
D-Up + D-Down, same as above.
Right Bumper, we have to do damage somehow, and none of the other damage buttons are mandatory either. If you consider Left Trigger, you can perform power attacks and parry, but you can't riposte without Right Bumper. If you combine RB + LT with Kiln Skip you can kill Gwyn without opening your menu, but this method still adds up to 6 Buttons. Throwing items with 'X' is a terrible way to deal damage, and even worse when you consider not being able to control your camera. 'B' requires Armour of Thorns, which is better than 'X', but not by much. Finally falling on Gwyn's head might be an option, but why would anyone do that?
Left Analog Stick... try to get out of your cell without LAS. It can't be done.
If you made it to the end, Bravo! My brain is melting right now as it has been a very long day. I am currently trying to switch from Qwerty to Dvorak, you might have noticed, and I refuse to let myself avoid this practice. For context, I'm at 20 wpm and slowly declining. If you like this kind of thing, I'm currently working on another challenge run. It's Dark Souls 1-3 and I can only use things that aren't in the other two games. Stay tuned.
