Civil Rights
In theory, Americans are equal in their rights. Yet, disadvantaged groups—women, minorities, and many others—have had to battle to achieve a greater measure of equality. This session focuses on three policies that have expanded the rights and opportunities of disadvantaged groups: the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause, the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and affirmative action.
