Why Interviews Go Wrong (And It’s Not Because You’re “Unqualified”)

Job interviews aren’t about proving your worth — and treating them that way is often what makes them fall flat. As a Talent Acquisition leader, interviews are one of my favorite parts of the hiring process, and in this video, I’m breaking down what recruiters are actually paying attention to when they meet you.
We talk about why your energy matters more than over-rehearsing, how over-preparing can quietly work against you, and why real confidence doesn’t come from memorizing answers — it comes from alignment. Alignment between what you bring to the table, what you want next, and what the company truly needs.
If interviews make you second-guess yourself, over-explain, or feel like you’re performing instead of having a conversation, this will shift how you show up. Interviews should feel grounded, human, and mutual — not like a test you’re trying to pass.
I’ve linked my Interview Competence Kit below if you want help preparing in a way that feels aligned, confident, and natural — without sounding scripted.
