In this video, we share a part of a Taekwondo class specifically designed for young beginners, ages 5 to 7, with white belts. This session focuses on essential foundational stances and techniques that help young students develop focus, discipline, and basic skills in a fun and structured environment.
Techniques Taught:
Attention Stance (Charyeot Seogi)
Feet are together, and hands are at the sides.
Purpose: Used to focus and prepare to receive instructions.
Ready Stance (Naranhi Seogi)
Feet are shoulder-width apart, pointing straight forward in parallel. Hands are held in front, at belt level.
Purpose: A neutral position to prepare for movement or techniques.
Horse Stance (Juchum Seogi)
Feet are wider than shoulder-width, toes pointing forward, and knees bent deeply.
Purpose: Strengthens the legs and builds power for blocks and strikes.
Walking Stance (Juchum Seogi)
Feet are shoulder-width apart, with one foot forward. Weight is distributed equally.
Purpose: Used in movement drills and for practicing basic techniques.
Long Stance (Ap Kubi Seogi)
One foot is extended forward, with most weight on the front leg and the back leg straight.
Purpose: Provides stability and strong forward momentum, ideal for offensive movements.
Back Fist Strike (Deung Jumeok Chigi)
Performed with the back of the fist in a quick, snapping motion toward the target.
Purpose: A fast, surprising strike often used in combination or as a counterattack.
Middle Straight Punch (Momtong Jireugi)
A direct punch aimed at the torso.
Purpose: Fundamental punching technique targeting the center of the opponent's body.
Push Kick (Miro Chagi)
Used to push the opponent back, creating space and disrupting forward movement.
Purpose: Effective for controlling distance and breaking the opponent’s rhythm.
Through these techniques, students are introduced to the basics of Taekwondo in a safe, encouraging atmosphere. These foundational skills build discipline, balance, and body awareness, setting the groundwork for further learning and growth in martial arts.
