Press conference with Lyon head coach Paulo Fonseca following their 5–4 (7–6 agg) Europa League defeat to Manchester United.
He says his team played magnificently but a match isn’t over until the last second, and maybe they got too carried away and failed to see the game out. He talks about trying to calm the players after they took the aggregate lead, but they failed to contend with United going direct to get back in the game. Says he doesn’t regret any of the substitutions he made, says the team played well and can take the positives into the game away to Saint-Étienne at the weekend. Says his upcoming touchline ban isn’t important right now — the team must focus on the future on the pitch. Talks about what they were lacking that led to United going 2–0 up, and talks about the emotion shown by captain Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the game in what could be his last European appearance for the club.
