Merlin and Morgana AU One Of A Kind part 6 (final part)

Last part of my Merlin and Morgana story!

PLOT:
The night before Merlin's execution, Morgana watches the stake being set up in the courtyard out of her window. Gwen calls round to see if Morgana is ok but she seems unsettled by the upcoming event. Merlin, who is in the cells, looks out of a grated window to see the stake being set up.

Later that same night, Morgana asks Gwen for a sleeping draft, explaining that her nightmares have returned. Gwen hands Morgana the potion and leaves the room. What Gwen didn't know was that Morgana had mixed the poison she found in Gaius's chambers in with the draft, enough power to take her life.

The next morning, the kingdom's alarm bells rung, informing the king that something was wrong. Merlin heard the alarm bells and was curios as to why they were ringing. Uther ran towards Morgana's chambers and heard Gwen trying to wake Morgana up. He burst through the doors and found Morgana lying on her bed, not moving at all. He walked over to Morgana and knew that there was nothing on the bed but Morgana's lifeless body. Hours later, Uther had embalmed Morgana up to make her look peaceful, ready for her funeral.

Merlin was still in the cells and heard his cell door open. He knew that it would've been the guards escorting him to his execution but instead, it was Arthur. Arthur informed Merlin was Morgana was found dead and released him to go and see her one last time. Merlin arrived at Morgana's chambers and saw her body lying on her bed across the room. He ran over to Morgana's bedside and gently pulled her close to him, sobbing over the death of his true love.

The next day, a funeral for Morgana was held in the courtyard of Camelot. Gwen, Arthur, Uther and the Knights witnessed Morgana's body burn. Merlin tried to hide his emotions in case anyone thought that Morgana was more than just a friend to him. Later that day, Merlin felt that he no longer had the strength to let go of Morgana forever. He went into Gaius's potion cupboard and pulled out a bottle of deadly poison and walked away with it in his hand.

Within hours, Merlin was finally reunited with Morgana once more, but only in the spirit realm, meaning that he had poisoned himself to be with Morgana. They both took hold of each other's hands and travelled into the eternal light.
