Cab ride on an empty intercity direct train coming from the Watergraafsmeer in Amsterdam. We will take it Den Haag HS via Schiphol Airport and Leiden.
In the original plan we should've driven this train via Haarlem, but that didn't happen because the train dispatcher in Amsterdam send us to the wrong track. Oops. It's all work done by people and we all make mistakes sometimes. As you can see in the video this is no problem and we get detoured via Schiphol Airport instead.
On our way to Schiphol we'll get behind some of the other train traffic driving to Schiphol. Half way there I make a call to the train dispatcher asking him if it's possible to let the sprinter to Leiden wait until we have passed by. This will give the sprinter one minute delay and we will win back about 5-8 minutes. But as you can hear a few minutes later this is not possible. So we just keep the train on a lower speed so we don't have make a full stop on our way to Leiden where we can pass by the sprinter.
Because we're constantly driving behind other trains the light signals will give us lower speed restrictions as normal. But as soon was we have passed Sassenheim and all the signals in Leiden are green we get to run our train just a small piece of the journey on full speed.
The reason for this empty ride is that the maintenance for train is done in Amsterdam Watergraafsmeer. Every day we take trains from The Hague to Amsterdam and back, just for maintenance. And this is one of those rides.
