Nina Bubrig. of Folsom, Louisiana was diagnosed in 1966 with essential tremor and has since done her best to hide the uncontrollable (and often times embarrassing) shaking of her hands.
Early 2016 was the final straw. Nina was attempting to pour her grandchild's formula in a bottle and ended up knocking over bottles and spilling medicine across the kitchen counter. Nina consulted with her primary care physician who referred her to The NeuroMedical Center, home of Baton Rouge's first and only Deep Brain Stimulation center.
Neurologist, Dr. Gerald J. Calegan, and neurosurgeon, Dr. Paul J. Waguespack identified Nina as an ideal candidate for deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery.
