DESIGN DETAILS
This Matlab design is based on Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive system powered by a buck–boost converter and controlled using a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller optimized via whale optimization algorithm (WOA). The buck–boost converter ensures efficient voltage regulation, enabling the BLDC motor to operate effectively under varying load and speed. The PI controller is employed to achieve precise speed control and maintain stable motor performance. To enhance the dynamic response and efficiency of the system, the WOA algorithm is utilized to optimize the PI controller parameters, ensuring optimal tuning and robustness under different operating conditions. The proposed system is validated through simulation and experimental studies, demonstrating improved speed regulation, reduced settling time, and enhanced overall system efficiency. The results highlight the effectiveness of the WOA-optimized PI controller in achieving superior performance for BLDC motor drives, making it suitable for applications such as electric vehicles, industrial automation, and renewable energy systems.
