Gurez valley lies along the LOC in northern part of Kashmir, situated at about 8000 feet. It is 146 km from Srinagar. It is very safe and peaceful place.

This valley was once a part of ancient Silk Route, which connected the Kashmir Valley with Gilgit, before continuing further to Kashgar.

Best time to visit Gurez Valley is between April to September. After that the temperature starts dipping but depending on the weather condition, you can plan your trip in October as well. Nevertheless, the weather during this time period is pleasant and bearable; the average temperature ranges about 15-20 degrees Celsius, which is ideal to explore the place, clicking gram worthy pictures and enjoying the adventure activities like river rafting.

In winters, temperatures fall to as low as -10°C. The area is cutoff from the other parts of India for almost six months following heavy snowfall. Razdan Pass, which is the gateway to this mountainous valley, records around 10-15 feet snow and becomes the main reason for the closure of the road.

You can also visit here during the three-day Gurez Festival. It is one of the best way to explore and know more about the art, culture, and heritage of the place. Local people and tribes come together to celebrate the beauty and culture of this place.
