Greymouth New Zealand 2025

Hi and welcome to todays POV cycle around the Greymouth area starting at the Greymouth Hospital and heading North to the Greymouth CBD area.

Greymouth is the largest town on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island with a population around 8,610 (2025)

Greymouth has a small port that caters for the local commercial fishing industry with a fish processing factory and small fishing vessel maintenance slipway and work shed.

The primary industries that service Greymouth are fishing, manufacturering, engineering, forest services, saw milling, hospitality and tourism and construction and road/ highway maintenance.

Greymouth CBD is ageing with low building quality and run down looks however the CBD has good aspects with new buildings replacing the ageing and rundown old buildings a brand new impressive library building is currently still in the build stage at the time when this video was recorded along with new buildings currently in the early stages of design.

Greymouth is also the starting or finishing point of the beautiful West Coast Wilderness Trail that links Greymouth to Ross and can be completed in either direction.

Greymouth also is the stoping or starting point of the wold famous TranAlpine tourist train that runs from Christchurch to Greymouth return along the stunning Midland railway line that links the East Coast to the West Coast.
