Standing before accusing eyes,
Pointed fingers and the world shouts guilty.
“Whip her with the rod, bind her with the chains…”
And truly, I was caught in the act —
I was guilty.

The shame that I felt…
But in disbelief, before all who accused me,
Before every foe—

Do You mean to say my sins are washed away?
The debt I owe is fully paid?
Are You saying my iniquities are covered?
Discharged and acquitted…
Mercy repeated.

A wretch like me?
Really?
That my sins would hold me no more?

I was running toward destruction,
Yet I’ve been bought by His blood.

Dragged and shoved by men,
Awaiting judgment in fear…
But Mercy stepped forward,
With blood dripping from His hands and side,
A crown of thorns on His head.

I am washed by His blood,
Wrapped in His love.
Here I stand—
Discharged and acquitted.
A wretch like me.

Who can lay a charge against God’s elect?
It is the Lord who justifies.
It is the Lord who glorifies.
So I magnify—
Because a wretch like me
Can be declared NOT GUILTY.

I tried, but I could not save myself.
I tried to walk right, do right, be right…
And maybe my accusers were right—
Judgment is what I deserved.

But just when I thought I was beyond help,
Mercy stepped forward,
Took my place,
And declared:
NOT GUILTY.

“But Lord… I am guilty as charged.”
Yet You showed me Your scars and said:
“Your sins are fully paid.”

I will march to the nations,
Sing across the earth—
I am the one for whom Christ died.
