The captivating history of Icacos Shoreline is explored, revealing the location where Columbus' anchor was discovered. Columbus made his second landing at Icacos in August of 1498 at Punta del Arenal (Sandy Point) Icacos where he lost the anchor from one his ships. This is the history of this anchor being found about 200 feet from the shoreline towards the end of 1877 when laborers were digging a canal to drain the water from the area to plant coconut trees.
