“When an opponent grabs your hand or arm, or attempts to control a part of your body with strong force, you should avoid confronting them at the point of contact. Do not rely on brute strength to break free. Instead, remain clear-minded and understand that the primary function of the contact point is to sense the direction of the opponent’s force, not to serve as a weapon for direct struggle.
To neutralize such an attack, skillfully employ rotation of the hips or other joints to redirect the attacking force, guiding it away from your own center. If the point of contact can perform a relaxed rotational movement with minimal displacement, neutralization becomes much easier. If, in addition, you are able to take advantage of the opponent’s momentary rigidity that arises when they exert force, you can seize the opportunity to apply whole-body power for a light, effective counter that disrupts the opponent’s balance.”
