Wintertime Bass Fishing on the Sabine River

I'm back out on the Sabine River system and on this trip and I had a great day of bass fishing! I really found them on this trip.

Conditions for this day was extremely foggy and a cold front was coming in. the tide was falling hard to the bay so it really positioned the fish for me.

I decided to hit some areas I found using google earth.

My favorite area on this trip was the high line cove. I plan to spend a few days back there after seeing all of the grass and deep water it had around it. It should have some decent sized bass in it.

My main three baits on this trip was a Strike King ned rig , a Bill Lewis 1/4oz trap and a Xcite XB-1 square bill crankbait. I fished 3' and less for the most part targeting shallow grass, reeds and marsh drains that dumped into a creek or main bayou.


This is a very challenging body of water unless you're fishing the private waters of Louisiana then it's pretty easy fishing.

If you do decide to fish out here, make sure you have the correct state license for the body of water you're fishing. The game wardens don't play around!
