Chiang Mai to KL for 15 hours - Prescription Drug Run

This is a totally different video for us. Since leaving the USA we have been sourcing drugs as we go along but when we got to Prince Court in March Helen was prescribed a new drug that is very expensive and not available worldwide.

We tried to fill 12 months of prescription before we left KL but the drugs would have expired so we left with a couple of months of drugs and said we would come up with a plan. The drug costs approximately $550 in KL for a months supply but it costs $7000 in the USA.

We thought we could source this as we travelled but the honest answer is we couldnot. So we came back with a plan to contact the pharmacy and preorder 12 months of supplies and fly back for 15 hours to pick them up. We bought a ticket through AirAsia that got us in to KL at 10pm (actual arrival 11.30pm) and booked an appointment at the pharmacy at 10am when they opened.

We wired the money to the pharmacy so all we needed to do is pick it up and head back to the airport to catch the flight back at 3pm. When we got there the drugs and packaging filled a huge box so it was now time to split the drugs down to make the packaging as small as possible. It was Helen's birthday so James actually picked up a present from Pavillion. Although the video shows us both in Daiso at the same time this was a total fluke and not planned. He did pick up her present, just not at Daiso.

The Airport was 45 minutes away if traffic was good so while James made his way back Helen relaxed with a Mani Pedi and a cheeky shop at H & M. James gets to the airport and yes, the flight is running late so all is good. James even gets time to see Uncle Roger before boarding.

James gets back late but we can meet up at the Chiang Mai Marriott with enough drugs to get us through the next 12 months. We just have to work out how to carry them around the world now.
