Uncovered! The Forgotten 1625 Mosque Built in Jahangir’s Reign! Mughal | Bihar | Barh | Patna

मुग़ल बादशाह जहांगीर के दौर ए हुकूमत में बिहार के पटना ज़िला के बाढ़ क़स्बा में बनी 400 साल पुरानी क़ाज़ी साहब मस्जिद आज भी अपनी ऐतिहासिक पहचान बनाए हुए है।इस मस्जिद को 1035 हिजरी (1625 ईसवी) में शेख़ महमूद और शेख़ मसूद—जो इमाम ताज मुहम्मद फ़क़ीह के वंशज थे—द्वारा बनवाया गया था।

ग़ौरतलब है कि शेख़ महमूद का निधन मस्जिद बनने के तीन साल बाद, 1038 हिजरी (1628 ई.) में हुआ और उन्हें मस्जिद के सहन के बाहर दफ़न किया गया।
वहीं 1839 के अदालती दस्तावेज़ बताते हैं कि शेख़ मसूद को बादशाह जहांगीर के दौर में 728 बिघा ज़मीन ग़ियासपुर परगना के मौज़ा सैयदपुर चुनरिया और सैयदपुर बरसावाँ में मिली थी।

The Qazi Sahab Mosque located in Barh town, Patna district (Bihar) is one of the region’s oldest Islamic heritage sites, built during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
According to the inscription fixed on the mosque, it was constructed in 1035 Hijri (1625 CE) by Sheikh Mahmood and Sheikh Masood, descendants of Imam Taj Muhammad Faqih, the first preacher of Islam in Bihar.

Sheikh Mahmood passed away just three years later in 1038 Hijri (1628 CE) and was buried right outside the mosque courtyard.
Historical court records from 1839 mention that Sheikh Masood was granted 728 bigha of land in the villages of Syedpur Chunariya and Syedpur Barsawan in the Ghiaspur Pargana during Jahangir’s rule.
