On September 6, 2025, the California Museum hosted its annual Statehood Day Celebration in Sacramento.
At the event, San José State University professor of Spanish and Ibero-American Studies, Damian Bacich, Ph.D., presented "California’s Spanish-Mexican Roots: Life Before and After Statehood," exploring the history and legacy of California before and after it became a state.
