Understanding how people learn is essential in psychology, education, and everyday life. This video provides a simple and clear explanation of three major learning theories: Cognitive Learning, Social Learning, and Operant Conditioning. Each theory answers a different question about how and why human behavior changes. part 3
🔹 1. Cognitive Learning Theory
Cognitive learning focuses on how the mind processes information. Instead of learning only through rewards or punishment, people actively think, analyze, remember, and problem-solve.
Key points:
Learning happens inside the mind (attention, memory, reasoning).
Learners actively organize and connect new knowledge to what they already know.
Problem-solving and understanding patterns play a big role.
2. Social Learning Theory (Albert Bandura)
Social learning says people learn by watching others. Observing role models—parents, teachers, friends, or media—shapes behaviors. Bandura’s famous “Bobo Doll Experiment” showed children imitate actions they see.
Key points:
Learning happens through observation, imitation, and modeling.
Attention, memory, and motivation affect what people imitate.
Role models influence behavior—even without direct rewards.
3. Operant Conditioning (B.F. Skinner)
Operant conditioning explains learning through consequences: rewards encourage behavior, and punishments reduce it. It focuses on how behavior is shaped by outcomes.
Key points:
Positive reinforcement: adding something good (praise, reward).
Negative reinforcement: removing something unpleasant.
Punishment: decreasing unwanted behavior.
Shaping: rewarding small steps toward a complex behavior
