Grade 5’s single and double strokes exercise is the same as Grade 4’s but at a faster tempo. The single and triple paradiddles are performed on the whole kit with the bass drum following the right hand. Triplets, flam accents and single drag taps are added to the flams and ruffs group. The snare work is completed by a five-stroke roll phrase. Fills are taken from the hands and feet patterns and during this part of the exam you will be required to play the snare with rim-shots and ghost notes.
