Bheemeshwara Falls is a secluded, 50-foot waterfall located in the dense forests of the Western Ghats in Karnataka. Situated in the Sharavathi Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, the falls are adjacent to the ancient Bheemeshwara Temple, which adds to the location's spiritual significance. The site is known for its tranquil atmosphere and lush, evergreen surroundings.
The falls are situated in the Sagara taluk of the Shivamogga district, roughly 40 to 43 km from both Jog Falls and Bhatkal.
Pandava legend: According to legend, the Shiva Linga in the cave temple was installed by Bheema during the Pandavas' exile. The waterfall itself is said to have been created by Arjuna, who shot an arrow into a rock to produce water for worship.
From the main road (connecting Bhatkal and Siddapur/Soraba), you must travel the final 2–3 km on a muddy forest path. For those who prefer not to walk, local 4x4 jeeps can be hired for the final stretch of the journey.
