Vision Miner at Open Sauce 2025 and A Special Offer for You

Open Sauce 2025 was packed with creators, engineers, and some of the most exciting projects in the maker world — and Vision Miner was right in the middle of it all. This year, we exhibited our high-temperature 3D printing solutions, shared parts in materials like PEEK, ULTEM, and PPSU, and met countless engineers and innovators pushing the limits of what’s possible. In this video, we’re recapping our experience at Open Sauce 2025, highlighting some of the incredible people we met, the projects we saw, and most importantly, making a special request to YOU — our community.

For those new to Vision Miner, our specialty is functional 3D printing with ultra-performance polymers. Materials like PEEK, PEKK, ULTEM 1010, ULTEM 9085, PPSU, and carbon fiber composites are the kinds of thermoplastics that aerospace, automotive, and medical companies depend on — but they’re often out of reach for hobbyists and small shops due to their cost and the specialized equipment required. A single spool of PEEK can cost as much as a weekend vacation. That’s why Open Sauce was such a great opportunity: we got to introduce these materials and machines to thousands of people who had never seen what was possible with engineering-grade printing.

At the event, we showed off:
• Nano Polymer Adhesive – a simple solution for bed adhesion that works across nearly every hobby printer and material type.
• 22 IDEX 3D Printer – our high-temperature dual-extrusion system that handles everything from PEEK and ULTEM to ABS, ASA, Nylon, and Polycarbonate. This printer isn’t just built for industrial use; it’s also a powerhouse for large functional prototypes.
• Non-planar / 5-axis ready bed motion – the “bed dance” that had the crowd buzzing. While the software for true non-planar slicing is still in development, the hardware is already ready, future-proofing this system for what’s coming next.

But the most exciting part of Open Sauce wasn’t just what we showed — it was the conversations we had. From NASA and Rocket Lab engineers to well-known creators like Joel Telling (3D Printing Nerd), CNC Kitchen, RC Test Flight, Backyard Scientist, and many more, the event was filled with people tackling ambitious projects. Seeing their work inspired us to take a step we’ve never taken before: opening the doors to our community.

Here’s the deal: most of the parts we print in PEEK, ULTEM, and other high-temp plastics are under NDA. Aerospace, defense, and medical clients rarely let us share what we build. But the Vision Miner YouTube community is full of innovators who do have parts and ideas worth showing. That’s why we’re inviting you to send us your STEP files, models, and project ideas. If your part is a good fit for ultra-performance materials, we’ll print it on the 22 IDEX and document the entire process for the channel. It’s a chance to see your project come to life in one of the strongest, most advanced polymers available — and show the whole community how functional 3D printing can solve real problems.

During Open Sauce, we also stress-tested PEKK parts, letting attendees try to break them. For days, nobody could — until the final afternoon when one determined engineer smashed a sample against a steel railing. The part finally cracked, but it gave everyone a clear look at the incredible layer adhesion these materials achieve. That’s the kind of performance that makes PEEK and PEKK indispensable in industries that demand chemical resistance, radiation tolerance, strength, and thermal stability.
