Starts from a convenient lay-by near Embleton

Gentle ascent along a clear bridleway to the summit of Watch Hill (770 ft)

Ridge walk to Setmurthy Common (833 ft), with an optional detour to the true summit hidden in woodland

Return via Setmurthy Plantation, using quiet forest tracks

Expansive views across the Lake District

Old quarries and historic benchmarks

Ridge and furrow fields and traces of old boundary walls

Great visibility of other Wainwright walks and fells
