Following our Roman Catholic inspirations for today, Victoria chose a favorite prayer of hers, which was written by actor Nic Moore, who has provided us permission to read the prayer.
"Prayer to Saint Teresa de Ávila for the Animal Rights
Dearest Saint and Doctor of the Church Sister Teresa de Avila please hear this prayer of supplication which I deliver in admiration of your marvelous piety.
During reflection upon Jesus’ suffering and poverty, you left the indulgences of a luxurious life and grew closer to Christ through a life of simplicity. You urged your convent to embrace poverty, chastity, and manual labor and to give up the endowment of wealthy patrons. In your wisdom, you practiced moderation by adopting a vegetarian diet.
St. Teresa de Avila, please help those who struggle to adopt vegetarianism and veganism. Help them so they may lead lives that preserve and protect God’s great creations: the animals and the natural world. By your heavenly intercession, may more people abandon the over-consumption of animal products, and may legislators and factory farmers be guided away from practices that destroy the environment and cause the unwarranted suffering of innocent animals.
We ask this in all of the holy names.
