East Broad Top #16 Arriving at Rockhill - Railfanning - Rockhill, PA (8/17/25)

Back in August I met up with the Division 11 train club at East Broad Top Railroad in Rockhill, Pennsylvania for our monthly meeting. On this day we had planned to meet and leave on the noon train to Colgate Picnic Grove, where we would eat lunch and have our meeting. After the meeting we would board the train back to Rockhill, and take the shop tour upon arriving back.

In this video we see EBT #16 aka Nick, arriving back at Rockhill with the return train. #16 switches over tracks to go into the wye at Rockhill, and begins signaling for the grade crossing up ahead. From there he will back out of the wye on the other side of the yard, which will turn the whole train around to come back into the station at Rockhill. From there passengers will get off the train and the crew will begin prepping for the noon train.

For those who may not be familiar with East Broad Top, this is a historic narrow gauge railroad which operated from 1871 to April of 1956 the railroad was closed and all its assets sold for scrap. Despite this, the entire railroad was preserved by the Kovalchick Salvage Corporation and turned into a tourist railroad. The EBT still has their six Mikado 2-8-2 steam locomotives which once hauled coal on the railroad, and the long term goal is to restore all of them to working condition again. The railroad also has all of its old shops, still just as they were during the railroad's last day of operation.
