Hey, I’m J C! Welcome to Missed Again, the pool channel for advanced beginners stuck in the “awkward middle” of the game.
This isn’t about perfect play. It’s about my honest struggles, frustrating misses, and the small breakthroughs that make a big difference. I explore why I miss, what I’m learning, and how I’m working through it, so you can, too.
This is the sequel to the previous video on Instinctive Kicking first: • In-depth Guide on Instinctive ONE-RAIL Kic...
Watch all the videos in the Kick & Bank Shot playlist here: • In-depth Guide on Instinctive ONE-RAIL Kic...
Bank shot systems are NOT simple, plug-and-play formulas that work for every scenario. Banking is far too nuanced for that. The correct aim and execution change constantly based on the cue ball's angle on the object ball (OB), the distance between the OB and the rail, and, crucially, the contact dynamics between the cue ball and the OB.
If every bank system ultimately requires you to add "feel", such as a little side spin, more pace, or a softer hit, then the system itself has failed. These methods are better viewed as guides or frameworks, not gospel.
All shots in pool, including the bank shot, should be approached by developing your instinctive aiming ability. This means your subconscious mind handles the complex calculations while you consciously focus on executing your fundamentals.
In this video, I will provide an easy and logical framework to help you experiment and develop instinctive banking. We will cover table-width banks, cross banks, and frozen-to-rail banks.
For those seeking an assist: I will cover a hack for one-rail bank shots using the “Spot of the Wall” method in a 3rd video coming out later. For now, let's focus on mastering the instinctive banking approach.
For easy navigation, the topics are time-stamped as follows:
