Today I put two very different Smith & Wesson revolvers head‑to‑head: the chunky .44 Special “Bulldog” vs a S&W Model 642 .38 Airweight pocket revolver with an enclosed hammer! ( I shoot a pumpkin and a 1.5 L Fiji water bottle to show real‑world temporary target effects, and I talk about carry, recoil, and handling for each gun.
What I used:
Smith & Wesson .44 Special “Bulldog” — hollowpoint ammunition (only hollowpoints available to me).
Smith & Wesson .38 Airweight — 158‑grain lead rounds (what I had on hand).
What you’ll see: damage comparisons, how each gun handles on the range, and my thoughts on pocket‑carry practicality vs. big‑bore stopping power.
