廣西壯族自治區（壯語：Gvangjsih Bouxcuengh Swcigih），通稱廣西（Guengjsae），簡稱桂，是中華人民共和國的五個自治區之一，首府為南寧市。廣西壯族自治區位於中南部地區，南瀕北部灣，與越南接壤。廣西壯族自治區有中國最多的少數民族人口數量，地方語言有壯語、侗語、廣東話次方言、桂柳官話等各種民族語言和方言。自治區政府駐南寧市青秀區民生路2號。
因為僮族是廣西人口最多的少數民族（佔31%），廣西僮族自治區於1958年由廣西省根據民族區域自治制度改製成立。 1965年，僮族更名為壯族，自治區也隨之改為現名。廣西主要城市為南寧、柳州和桂林。
民國十年（1921年），始稱梧州市。 1927年梧州市政府成立。 1949年，設置梧州專區，屬廣西省，專員公署駐梧州市。轄梧州市及蒼梧、桂平、藤縣、岑溪、平南、容縣6縣。 1950年，梧州市升省轄市。 1951年，撤銷梧州專區，所轄6縣劃歸容縣區。 1958年恢復梧州專區；梧州市降格劃入。轄梧州市及蒼梧、藤縣、岑溪、蒙山、昭平、賀縣、富鐘等縣。 1961年梧州市升地級市。 1962年富鐘縣分設富川、鐘山二縣。 1971年梧州專區改稱梧州地區。 1997年梧州地區改置賀州地區，轄賀州市（縣級）及鐘山、昭平、賀縣及富川瑤族自治縣。行政公署駐賀州市。 2002年撤銷，改設地級賀州市；原縣級賀州市改置八步區。
2003年2月，梧州市轄區調整，撤銷郊區，設長洲區。 2013年，撤銷梧州市蝶山區、萬秀區，設立新的梧州市萬秀區，以原蝶山區、萬秀區（不含旺甫鎮）的行政區域為新的萬秀區的行政區域；設立龍圩區，以蒼梧縣的龍圩鎮、新地鎮、廣平鎮、大坡鎮的行政區域為龍圩區行政區域；將原萬秀區的旺甫鎮劃歸蒼梧縣管轄，蒼梧縣市遷至石橋鎮。調整後，梧州市的行政區為萬秀區、長洲區、龍圩區、蒼梧縣、藤縣、蒙山縣，代管岑溪市。

In 1958, Wuzhou Special District was restored; Wuzhou City was downgraded and incorporated. It governed Wuzhou City and Cangwu, Tengxian, Cenxi, Mengshan, Zhaoping, Hexian and Fuzhong counties. In 1961, Wuzhou City was upgraded to a prefecture-level city. In 1962, Fuzhong County was divided into Fuchuan and Zhongshan counties. In 1971, Wuzhou Special District was renamed Wuzhou Region. In 1997, Wuzhou Region was renamed Hezhou Region, which governed Hezhou City (county level) and Zhongshan, Zhaoping, Hexian and Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County. The Administrative Office was located in Hezhou City. In 2002, it was abolished and replaced by Hezhou City at the prefecture level; the original county-level Hezhou City was changed to Babu District.
