Lesson: Understanding God: Your Path to Knowing Who You Are
Scripture: Genesis 1:26 and John 14:9 (NRSV) Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Major Point of Reflection: "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." (John 8:32)
Points for Consideration: 1. "Knowledge and intelligence are auxiliary to understanding." (C. Fill-more, The Revealing Word) 2. "On that day, you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you." (John 14:20)
Practice: For New Thought Christians, the first chapter of the Bible, Genesis 1, is most powerfully understood as an allegory about the Divin-ity of Humankind. When we really understand who we are, we will re-member and reclaim our freedom.
