Brooks Lake to Wind River Lake | Catching Cutthroats & Cooking Elk in Wyoming

We began the day with a homemade matcha latte, then made our way up to the majestic Brooks Lake in Wyoming’s Absaroka Range.
Framed by the dramatic Pinnacle Buttes, this alpine lake was serene—but the fish stayed hidden.

So we climbed higher to Wind River Lake, perched on the Continental Divide—and that’s where it all changed.
One by one, we started catching cutthroat trout, surrounded by alpine silence and crisp mountain air.

Back in Dubois, we visited the Dubois Museum—a small but powerful treasure chest packed with local history.
From tie hacks and homesteaders to early log cabins and sheepeater artifacts, it’s a walk through the soul of the valley.

Then we stopped at the local grocery store for raw honey and hand-packed bison and elk patties—the kind of food that connects you to the land.

At camp, we grilled dinner beneath the trees and ended the night with s’mores by the fire, under a sky full of stars.

This isn’t roughing it—this is luxury in the wild.
