Sims 1
In The Sims 1, a Christmas Tree was added in the game with The Sims: Livin' Large. The Christmas tree can be bought from buy mode and a special ability to summon Santa Claus. In order for Santa Claus to come, The Christmas Tree has to be near a fireplace with a plate of cookies you can buy from buy mode. Also, every member of the family has to be asleep. Santa Claus will arrive between 12 AM to 3 AM. He will first eat the cookies you've left for him. Santa will then leave one big present for the family and one wrapped gift for each member of the family. Unfortunately, they are all empty. Santa Claus will then leave the same way he came.

Sims 2
With The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack, a Christmas Tree was added in the game. There are two types of Christmas Trees available. Like In The Sims 1, The Christmas Tree has a special ability to summon Santa Claus. To make Santa visit, Sims will need to bake Santa Cookies. When Santa Claus appears, he will do his Santa Laugh and eat the cookies. Santa will leave one present. Sims can now interact with Santa. They can can hug him, chat with him or play red hands.

Sims 3
In The Sims 3, a Holiday Tree was added in the game, on The Sims 3 Store for free. Unfortunately, The Christmas Tree in The Sims 3 is a purely decorative light that doesn't summon Santa Claus. Because there is no NPC Santa in The Sims 3, only a free Outfit, so you can play pretend. Christmas Gifts like in the previous Sims games are not available, but Sims can throw a Gift Giving Party and invite their friends and family.

Sims 4
In The Sims 4, a Holiday Tree was added with The Sims 4: Holiday Celebration Pack that functioned as a Light. But with The Sims 4: Seasons were added two more Christmas Trees that have more interactions available. There is a special tree that allows Sims to decorate the Holiday Tree alone or with other Sims. They can choose the Skirt, The type of Garland, the ornaments, and the top. Sims can sings songs around the Christmas Tree, and also place gifts. A Christmas Tree is not necessary for Santa to Show up. He will appear near a fireplace if there is a holiday that has the Father Winter tradition. But He will add presents to a decorated tree. He also loves to belly laugh. Sims can interact with Father Winter like with any other Sim. Sims can open presents together with friends and family.
