This was my second time getting out to Gothic Basin and once again, I wish that I had backpacked to stay the day and get to explore the area. It's a pretty unique environment in the basin, and offers a lot of opportunities to extend the hike and meander in nature. The trail itself is just really fun and offers a lot of variety and is never monotonous. I may have to start making this one of my annual hikes.
Gothic Basin day hike, completed July 27, 2025.

9.95 miles round trip, with 3,146 feet of elevation gain. Moving time of 4:07.
Located in the North Cascades along the Mountain Loop Highway.
Northwest Forest Pass is required for parking.
