Split is the second-largest city of Croatia after the capital Zagreb, the largest city in Dalmatia and the largest city on the Croatian coast. The Split metropolitan area is home to about 330,000 people. We show first Room inside Diocletian Palace - a Plaza Morchi Heritage Hotel and than a Walk Promenade. Split is considered a beautiful city for several reasons, including its combination of ancient Roman ruins, natural beauty, and vibrant urban atmosphere. The city's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the immaculately preserved Diocletian's Palace at its heart. Beyond the historical sites, Split is nestled between green hills and the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea, offering sandy beaches and a lively nightlife. The city also serves as a gateway to the Adriatic islands and is a great base for exploring nearby natural parks like Krka National Park. Emperor Diocletian built his palace in Split as his retirement home. He was the first Roman emperor to voluntarily abdicate the throne, and he chose to build his palace near his birthplace of Salona, the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. The palace was a heavily fortified complex, combining a luxurious villa with a Roman military camp, and it was constructed to ensure a pleasant and secure retirement for the emperor.
