Turning a Jr Majestic Rollerball in Elm Burl/Axminster Deluxe Pen Press Review

In this video I turn my first Jr Majestic Pen which is intended as to be a Birthday gift.

I milled a nice piece of Elm burl making sure it would be free of any voids to prevent blowout while drilling or turning. Once cut to size i bored the holes and glued the brass tubes in using medium CA glue.
I then turned the blanks down to the bushings and sanded from 320 grit to 600 grit applying oil and wet sanding with 400 and 600.

To finish I added 5 coats of thin CA followed by 3 coats of medium to bulk up the finish. I then polished with micro mesh pads to prepare the blanks for assembly.

I purchased an Axminster Deluxe Pen Press a few days before turning this pen so that there would be less risk of damaging the blanks or pen components during assembly. Although not absolutely necessary the pen press is exceptional, it does make assembly a lot easier. If you can handle the steep price then its a worthy investment.

The finished pen is Outstanding!! The quality of the Majestic pen parts is exceptional, worth every penny of what you pay. I will definitely be turning more of these pens in the future, starting with a fountain pen for myself.
