In this step-by-step tutorial, we walk through how to submit, monitor, and download results from simulation jobs using Ansys HPC Platform Services (HPS) on an auto-scaling cluster.
We begin with the basic workflow: submitting jobs from your local or virtual desktop to HPS, which manages job execution through SLM on your cluster. You’ll see how results can be downloaded directly into Ansys Mechanical or to your desktop.
The video then demonstrates how to set up a queue in Mechanical, connect to your HPS URL from Ansys Gateway, authenticate with user credentials, and configure advanced options like resource selection and queue assignment (including differences between Mechanical 2024 R2 and 2025 R1+).
Once jobs are submitted, we explore different monitoring options: directly in Mechanical, freeing up a license while monitoring through the HPS Web UI, or using the HPC Manager window for deeper insights into pending, scaling, and running jobs.
Finally, we show how to retrieve results after evaluation, download files, and continue with normal post-processing inside Workbench. Whether you’re new to HPS or fine-tuning your workflow, this video provides a complete overview of running Mechanical jobs efficiently in the cloud.
