The Melbourne Metro Tunnel opened on Nov 30 2025, so we thought we'd see what it's like to travel the new route with our Brompton T-Line & G-Line on board.
You can take regular bikes on Melbourne Metro trains for free, and the new trains have specific bike zones with straps. Of course, our folded Bromptons simplify this game as you can see in this video.
Elliot got to put the G-Line to work at University Square beside Parkville Sta., and we even had time for a coffee & lunch break at Seven Seeds near the University. https://sevenseeds.com.au/
It was a very chill day moving about the "Munnel" despite the 30 degrees outside, and the design of the 3 of 5 stations we visited - Arden, Parkville & Anzac - was excellent both in terms of aesthetics and accessibility. The lifts, escalators, and entrances for the trains were all very cycle friendly and the fold gave us even more of a hybrid commuting advantage.
