Microphone basics.

1. Talk loud
2. Be close to the microphone
3. Be in front of the microphone
4. The strangeness of hearing yourself somewhere else.
5. Don't shy away from the microphone
6. Talk loud enough for the microphone to pick you up
7. Be in front of the microphone, not off to the side
8. Area that microphone picks up
9. Don't get the microphone too close to a speaker or it will give you feedback (a high pitch squealing noise)
10. Pointing the back of the microphone towards a speaker (i.e. floor monitor) is OK
11. EQ settings affect how your voice sounds
12. Gain is like input volume, talk loud so you don't need too much gain
13. Keep talking if you're doing a sound check and talk with the same volume level as when you'll "really use" the microphone
