Mistress Savage's Whim is an English Country Dance first found in Playford of 1710. It was interpreted by Bentley in 1964. Found in "The Playford Assembly". It is a proper duple minor dance.
The tune was also published with the dance. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album "By Request". It is used with permission of Country Dance Society, Boston Centre, Inc. https://www.cds-boston.org/ecdc/
The animation plays at 95 counts per minutes normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.
