The making of altar linens is a sacred duty. Always use 100% linen. Linen is ironed wet, with a hot iron set on the highest setting. If you cannot get linen thread for the hemming and embroidered red cross, then use 100% cotton thread. Beware of polyester thread, as it will cut through the linen eventually.
