If you frequently travel by air, beware of the friendly neighbors.
Old lady came up and sat next to me on the plane.
She asked me to help her put her bag in the overhead luggage compartment. But quickly came a man sitting across. (I'm not very tall and the overhead luggage compartment is something I try to avoid from everything
Immediately he sat down and began talking.
She is very pleasant and well spoken. So we talked all the way to Dubai.
Suddenly, when the pilot announced that we were about to continue to disembark at DXB, my best friend 'got' an abdominal pain. Me with my good heart, I press the stewards button, and the stewardess came to find what the problem was. I told him my seat mate wasn't feeling well. And this girl, suddenly she called me 'my daughter'.
Stewardess told me they couldn't do anything but give her painkillers and wait until we got there.
The pilot announced we were having a medical emergency and advised us all to stay calm. My new friend is crying and sweating like crazy. And she refused to let go of my hand... Everyone assumed we know each other.
So we got to DXB and the same gentleman who helped put his luggage in the overhead compartment removed his luggage. But as she was unpacking luggage, she advised me to distance myself from this woman and clarify to the cabin crew that we are NOT traveling together. She is a gift from god!
So the cabin crew came up and asked if we were related, I told them we met on the plane. ! I don't even know him. So we started deplaning and as I said goodbye she kept begging me to carry her handbag. I was so bored... but a gentleman looked me in the eyes and started to wish. He handed me a note telling me to let the cabin crew handle him.
So I step out of the plane and leave my 'new friend' to wait for the wheelchair and be touched by the cabin crew feeling extremely guilty.
While we were waiting for our luggage to arrive, I heard this commotion. My 'new friend' running, trying to escape the cabin crew, wheelchair exit! She left the stewardess carrying her handbag and just ran towards the exit carrying the remaining hand luggage! Good thing airport police are faster than him. They grabbed him and returned him handcuffed.
This lady starts calling out to me.. my daughter... my daughter!.. how could you do this to me..... that's when I caught on.
He got drugs and he was trying it
take me in!
Fortunately for me, the gentleman who helped her with her luggage approached and told the airport police that he and I had just met on the plane. Cop took my passport and asked him to reveal my full name if we were traveling together.
Thank God, I didn't even tell him my name! I was still asked to follow the cops into a small room where I was questioned a lot. Where did I meet him?... Where am I riding... where is he riding.
Etc... And my luggage was extensively searched and dusted for fingerprints.
They dusted all her luggage and didn't find my fingerprints anywhere in her luggage or her handbag!
I was left with advice never to touch anyone's luggage on a flight or at the airport. So from that day forward, I don't care how much baggage you have, you're on you. I wouldn't even offer a trolley to hold your luggage! Your luggage... your problem.... my rule.
And if you can't reach the overhead compartment, and I'm the closest person, please call the cabin crew because all I'm going to do is give you a blank stare and then look away!
