Core Motivation of All 9 Enneagram Types | Your Enneagram Coach

Are you still on the journey to finding your main Enneagram Type? A great first step is taking my free online test (link in bio), but remember even the best typing assessments are only about 80% accurate. When assessing your inner world, accuracy depends on your honesty and self-awareness, as well as your current emotional and spiritual health.

Perhaps you’ve taken a test or two, but you’re still trying to decide between 2-3 Types. If this is you, I would recommend studying the Core Motivations, the driving force behind all Types’ behavior.

Two Types can say or do the exact same thing, but for completely different reasons, depending on the Core Fear, Core Desire, Core Weakness, and Core Longing motivating them.

In this series, we’ll walk through the Core Motivations of all 9 Types. If you’re working on discovering your main Type (or helping a friend of family member discover theirs), I encourage you to take a look at these four dynamics and start filtering behaviors through them to solidify which Type is the best fit.

You may feel resistant to your Type when you first discover it. In fact, the more exposed and uncomfortable you feel, the greater the chances you landed on the right number!

But try to keep an open heart and mind, because there is no right or wrong personality.

Each Type displays God’s image and character in unique ways, and each one has amazing strengths as well as its own set of struggles. God made you on purpose and for a purpose, and he doesn’t make mistakes!
