Axmouth is a picturesque village in East Devon, South West England, located near the town of Seaton and situated at the mouth of the River Axe. Despite its small size, the village has a rich history and is surrounded by beautiful landscapes that attract walkers, birdwatchers, and those seeking a peaceful escape.

📍 Location:
Axmouth lies within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

It’s just a short distance from the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic cliffs and fossils.

🕰 History:
In medieval times, Axmouth was one of the busiest ports on the south coast of England.

Over time, the river mouth silted up, making it inaccessible to larger ships, and the port's importance declined.

🏛 Points of Interest:
St Michael’s Church – A beautiful 13th-century church with a striking tower and stained glass windows.

Axmouth Old Bridge – Built in 1877, it’s one of the oldest surviving concrete bridges with its original structure intact.

Walking trails – The area is full of scenic paths along the Axe Estuary and through nearby Seaton Wetlands.

🌿 Nature:
The nearby Axe Estuary and Seaton Marshes nature reserves are rich in birdlife and ideal for nature walks.

South West Coast Path runs nearby, offering stunning coastal walks with sea views.
