Seedi Kolkata and Kolkata Rec Chord Studio proudly present their grand music release, a soulful rendition of Śrita Kamalā – Mangala Gītam, the first Ashtapadi from Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda.
This production is crafted by Mahesh Raghvan, a digital era Carnatic artist renowned for creating modern fusion and showcasing Indian classical music through the innovative GeoShred app.
Vocals are rendered by Pradip Banerjee, a Hindustani classical vocalist from Bengal, whose artistry brings depth and devotion to Jayadeva’s timeless composition.

This composition is tuned in Misra Bhopali by Pradip Bannerjee himself with soulful melody and divinity.

Together, they weave tradition and technology into a moving performance that celebrates the eternal beauty of Indian classical music while embracing the possibilities of the digital age.

kalita-lalita-vana-māla jaya jaya deva hare
o O Lord who rests on the bosom of Goddess Lakshmi, adorned with earrings and forest garlands. Victory to Hari!

Meaning & Significance
• Theme: This Ashtapadi is a mangala gītam (auspicious song) glorifying Lord Vishnu/Krishna in his many incarnations.
• Imagery: Each verse recalls a divine act — slaying demons, lifting Govardhana, blessing devotees, and embodying compassion.
• Refrain: “Jaya Jaya Deva Hare” is a joyous chorus, affirming victory and glory to the Lord.
• Devotional Use: Sung in temples (especially Jagannath Puri) and in classical music/dance traditions like Odissi and Carnatic concerts.
This hymn beautifully blends bhakti (devotion) with poetic artistry, showing Jayadeva’s genius in weaving Krishna’s lilas (divine pastimes) into lyrical worship.
