Another chance to see our Aircraft General Knowledge (AGK) session from September 2024.
A well attended session after our Summer break and AGK is always a good place to start... this time we were covering components and engine functions across the fleet so something for everyone. It was a real 'How does it work' session; among others... Carburetor function, airflow, fuel mix, butterfly and venturi effect, not forgetting Carb Icing. We also discussed alternator and battery relationship not forgetting fuel, buzz bar and electrics which raised the question... What's the difference between an instrument and a gauge?
Along with all the chit chat there was an opportunity for those attending in person to get their hands on Capt White's treasure chest of old heli parts. This really helps to see each component individually and visualise their relationship to each other.
Top priority during these FREE ground school sessions is improving our depth of knowledge. It's not just about knowing the answer but why is that the answer.
