The Trail They Don’t Want You to Wheel… We Wheeled it Anyway!

We drove this Moab trail… right before the BLM shut it down.

In this episode of our Forbidden Trail Guides, we take two stock rigs — a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and a Sasquatch Ford Bronco — across Mashed Potatoes, a now-closed off-road trail near Moab.

This wasn’t about a Jeep vs Bronco showdown. It was about seeing what stock rigs can still do when you have the right lines, good spotting, and a little grit.

Since filming, the BLM has closed this area — and this video now serves as a look at what was lost.

All views expressed on SUWA/BLM/Moab closures are my opinions, but my videos of these trails provide evidence of my opinions being correct. The whole series was filmed over a year at different times to see these "problematic" trails at different times. Mashed potatoes was created as Mashed Potatoe and many use that name as well as Mashed Potatoes. I like Potatoes as that's what it looks like. Gravy Boat and Gravy Bowl have also been used interchangeably. Trails were closed in October of 2023, but there was an appeal that kept them open when this was filmed. I was hopeful that the appeal would fix the mismanagement. Zak and I are going to make the best trail guide ever of a brutal Colorado trail... we're bringing friends and I'll hopefully have 35s on the JL (I need them, failed on 33s, but it was raining).
